Where is home/where did you grow up?

Helendale, California. Fun Fact: I lived off of Route 66!

Why did you choose chemistry as a career?

Chemistry helps me understand the world around me and gives me the chance to work on my creative side through designing experiments. Once I graduate in May 2024, I am going to use my chemistry background to pursue a graduate degree in Food Science!

Proudest accomplishment while at the University of Rochester?

Founding oSTEM (Out in STEM) at the University of Rochester! Through our student chapters, we have sent students to their first conferences, helped students get job offers, and even provided funding for graduate school applications. In just a year, we gained over 100 members!

The goal of this initiative is to highlight the diversity of backgrounds and perspectives in the Department of Chemistry and help our community develop stronger connections and synergies. You can think of these spotlights as the beginning of a conversation that we very much hope you will continue in the corridors of Hutch and beyond.
