The development of devices based upon nanoscale elements requires controlled deposition and assembly of each component. The integration of carbon nanotubes into power conversion devices such as fuel cells, photovoltaics and light-emitting diodes requires specific orientations to maximize their performance. Therefore, I am currently investigating the synthesis of vertically aligned arrays of carbon nanotubes via chemical vapor deposition with the goal of implementing these structures into power conversion devices.
