Research:

My research focuses on the biophysical and biochemical properties of cytochrome c. In one project, I am investigating the interaction between the heme iron(III) and its axial ligands by NMR by analyzing N-15 chemical shifts of ligands in the paramagnetic ferric cytochrome c system. My second project is to understand the effect of heme propionate ionization state and hydrogen bonding on heme electronic structure by analyzing C-13 chemical shifts of heme.
